Alexia Evellyn

"Terra"

Alexia Evellyn releases ode to nature ballad 'Terra', as a follow up to August’s ‘Savage Daughters’ and June’s ‘Hold On’.

“‘Terra’ is about a dream I had, about a being, a soul that flies through space and sees the Earth, an immense and beautiful blue ball floating in the darkness. It talks about the moment when the Earth begins to call us to Her and about life sprouting violently for the first time. It talks about how we look for home and shelter desperately throughout our lives. To then discover that it was always there, waiting for us.”

The video, directed by Alexia Evellyn and Anderson Barcellos featuring breathtaking scenery of her native Brazil continues the story as chapter 3 of the character seen in previous videos for ‘Savage Daughters’ (Chapter 1) and ‘Hold On’ (Chapter 2).

“The three characters are the same. They live in different realities in time, a time as a non-linear dimension, based on Nietzsche's concept of eternal return. ‘Savage Daughters’ is part one of this story, inspired by the myths of Akai Ito (red string theory) and Ariadne. This body, now connected to this wild being is what continues the story in ‘Hold On’. As in the legend of "La Loba", she begins to collect parts of herself that have been forgotten, but that are impossible to destroy. Upon the death of her old form, she gives birth to herself, to be whole. In ‘Terra’, this new being reconnects with the Earth, with purity, the life that lives at all costs, breaking through the pain to bathe in resistance. Home. Where is your home? Where can you go back to?”

The clip is also a nod to Alexia’s earliest fans, littered with Easter Eggs shot in the same location and attire and referencing her most viral videos on her social platforms.

Already amassing over 2 million global streams on her music since debuting this summer, Alexia’s journey to commercial success has already taken her across the world to perform her previous singles on national TV in China to over 150 million viewers and almost 1 billion on local social media.

This road has not been smooth for Alexia, despite amassing over 5 million followers on her own social platforms over the past year. Just to think that four years ago she almost decided to quit music altogether.

Playing the cello as a child, and receiving a University scholarship to study singing were solid foundations, however the confidence to embrace her own voice didn’t build until she landed a deal as the main vocalist with Cirque Du Soleil in 2019.

Just before a global tour, Covid hit, Alexia’s dream job cancelled before it even started, and fell into a depression ready to give up music for good.

With her friend’s encouragement and filming capabilities, she started singing anywhere she could, putting the videos online. It didn’t take long until viewers gathered on her accounts; celebrating, connecting to and sharing her acapella versions of old traditional and modern day pop songs, recorded in picturesque Brazilian nature.

“Being in contact with people who loved the same things as me gave me the feeling, for the first time in my life, that I wasn't that strange. In fact, there are many people like me spread all around this Earth. I just didn't know them yet.”
