"If I Ever Find Home"

"This EP is the biggest musical statement I’ve made so far," says Irish songwriter Etaoin while she prepares for the release of her second EP 'I Hate Everyone (but I don't mind you)'. "I feel like it really highlights a more upbeat and poppier side to my songwriting. All the songs are about real people and real situations I have been through in my own day to day life."

We are bold enough to proclaim that Etaoin is one of the most gifted songwriters out there at the moment. Her way with words results in lyrics that magnify emotions often shoved away because we consider them unpleasant. But Etaoin brings them forward, in her very own gut wrenching, sometimes snotty, sometimes way too honest style. "I feel like a lot of people try to make their lyrics really pretty, but it‘s the real ugly shit that gets me the most," she says. Being raised with classic songwriters like Tracy Chapman and Dolly Parton, a fan of Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, Paramore and the occasional metal band, Etaoin also knows how to write a melody that catches everyone's attention.

With 10 million streams to her name already, Etaoin has gathered praise from the likes of Wonderland Magazine and Amazon Music, while playing her first sold out shows to stunned crowds in UK, Ireland and Germany. The coming months will see more live shows in all three of these territories and a whole lot of new music.

The EP comes with brand new track "If I Ever Find Home", a brilliant example of Etaoin's brutal honesty. Produced by Brad Ellis it is the most stripped back and intimate song in this body of work. "I wrote 'If I Ever Find Home' about my first heartbreak. The song is about feeling totally alone and lost, I wrote it at a time when I felt like I had been searching in the dark for months just trying to find my old self again after things ended with the first boy I ever loved. We had been best friends for years, he had told me he had feelings for me but ultimately chose another girl over me. I lost my best friend and the person I cared about so much all in one. School was a total nightmare, I’d see them around making out in the hall way and literally wanted to curl up and disappear. The thing that I think everyone finds hardest about their first heartbreak, is that since you’ve never felt pain like that before you don’t know if it’s gonna get better. So you end up searching for them in the faces of strangers on the underground, calling them drunk, keeping your friends up on the phone obsessing over everything that went wrong, deleting their number in anger and then regretting it because you miss them way more than you could ever hate them. It completely breaks you down and then builds you back up into a new, more guarded person."

Etaoin's new EP 'I Hate Everyone (but I don't mind you)' is out August 5th. "It covers messy break ups, dramatic teenage situationship dramas, friend fall outs, and awkward sexual tension. It retains all the themes of my first EP in being brutally honest and vulnerable about heartbreak, whilst also adding in themes of hope, and excitement. It’s the best body of work I’ve ever released and I’m so unbelievably proud of it."
