Greta Isaac
"5'1"
SINGLE + VIDEO
On "5’1" , Greta brushes against generational sense of ennui as she traces the breakdown of a relationship in an emotional sucker punch that blurs the lines between pop and indie-rock. Over scuzzy guitars, Greta gives one of her most visceral and compelling vocal performances to date.
Greta is already an adept story teller, offering a unique lyrical lens that is often deeply, and sometimes uncomfortably, relatable to the listener, effortlessly combining humorous self deprecation with real personal critique and analysis. It’s this juxtaposition with Greta’s pop sensibilities and ear-worm melodies that set her apart from the pack. Having picked up praise from tastemakers such as Wonderland, Notion, CLASH and BBC Radio 1 and more, she is fast becoming one of the UKs most exciting new voices.
Speaking on the track, Greta adds:
""5’1" is the stubborn, angry child in me that doesn’t want to compromise or empathise when she’s met with conflict. The song was a product of losing interest or drive to make a relationship work and how I tend to withdraw and go inward when a situation gets a little too big and overwhelming to manage."
"5’1" is the first taste of a soon to be announced follow up project from Greta’s debut EP PESSIMIST. Expect an exuberant, raw and assertive collection of songs that sees Greta navigating millennial anxieties, her newfound artistic fluidity and her position as a woman in modern society.
